Student Organizations
There are several student organizations, campus events, and research and internship opportunities open to students and members of the Trinity community who desire to learn more about the environment and act to protect it.
Eco Allies
Eco Allies is Trinity University's environmental organization, dedicated to sustainability on campus and in the local community. It puts on many events throughout the year, encourages sustainability and recycling on campus, and coordinates sustainability-related volunteer opportunities in the San Antonio area.

Community Garden
The entire campus community is welcomed to participate and help grow the garden. Students can partake in tending the garden by either volunteering or registering for a one credit-hour, student-led course centered around community gardening.

Trinity Bee Alliance
The Trinity Bee Alliance is a student organization that maintains on-campus hives and promotes awareness about the importance of honeybees.

Campus Events
Earth Week
Every April, Trinity celebrates Earth Week with educational activities and opportunities to help out the local environment. Earth Week activities and events vary from year to year.
What Can I Do?
Some examples of past events include:
- a student-led Eco-Fiesta complete with a concert and games
- student research poster displays
- Earth Week keynote lectures
- the "Trinity Trash Hill" with "Trash Talkers" educators
- office supply exchanges
- zero-waste sporting events
- green buildings tour
- composting demonstrations
- yoga in the community garden
- a "Sustainabili-Tea" with the Sustainability Committee
- film screenings and art exhibitions

EcoStop
EcoStop is an opportunity for the Office of the University Architect to share the latest sustainability news and information with the campus community. Student assistants and staff will be present to help answer your sustainability-related questions.
When Can I Participate?
Watch for our information table in the Coates Center and Mabee Dining Hall at various times during September and October.
Campus Exchange
Campus Exchange is an event that provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to bring items they no longer want and find "new" treasures to keep. The event is staffed by volunteers from Eco Allies and Alpha Phi Omega.
When Can I Participate?
There is one Campus Exchange event per semester, usually in the last month of the semester. Keep an eye out for event flyers as the end of the semester approaches for specifics and accepted items.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Students involved in the environmental studies program benefit from the ability to enrich their studies with experiential learning opportunities, such as:
- field trips
- research alongside faculty members
- research presentations at regional and national conferences
- internships with city and state governments, local volunteer organizations, and both public and private institutions
